Invest In Girls believes that building confidence in girls so that they can manage their personal finances sets them up to be successful in the future. In addition, we believe that giving them exposure to women role models who are in financial services succeeding will spark an interest in pursuing a career in the industry.
IIG was founded in 2010 by a group of women passionate about narrowing the gender gap in Financial Services leaders. The National Council on Research for Women (NCRW) provided initial support along with 13 individual donors to launch a pilot program with 15 girls in Boston, Massachusetts in the fall of 2010. In 2011, IIG added 2 additional schools; 1 in Massachusetts and 1 in Connecticut, growing the program from 15 to 75 girls. In 2012, IIG grew to just over 175 girls in 3 schools. By 2013, IIG was programming at 6 schools in 4 states with over 325 girls. Today IIG serves close to 1,200 girls spanning 5 states and most recently began programming in NYC.
